How to Send a WhatsApp Broadcast from a Google Sheet
Keep your list in a spreadsheet? Send straight from it — pick the sheet, choose the phone column, and personalize each message from the columns.
If your recipient list lives in a spreadsheet, you don't need to export a CSV every time. ConvoFly can read a Google Sheet directly as the audience for a broadcast or a drip campaign — and because it re-reads the sheet on every send, rows you add later are picked up automatically.
Set it up
- In the audience picker, click the Google Sheet tab.
- Click Sign in with Google and approve access — a one-time step. (ConvoFly can only ever read the one sheet you pick.)
- Click 📄 Choose from Google Drive and select your spreadsheet.
- Pick the Tab (worksheet) to use.
- Pick the Phone number column — the column that holds each person's number. Make sure your column names sit in a row near the top of the sheet.
Personalize from the sheet
This is the best part — a proper mail-merge. In the Message template section (or each step, for a drip campaign), every {{1}}, {{2}} can be filled from:
- Sheet column — that person's own value from their row (e.g. their name or order number).
- Contact's saved detail — an attribute you already store on the contact.
- Custom text — the same for everyone.
Set an "If blank, use…" fallback for any column so a missing cell never sends an empty message.
It stays live
The sheet is re-read every time the campaign sends, so newly-added rows are automatically included — ideal for a recurring broadcast or a drip campaign you top up over time.
Good to know
- Read-only. ConvoFly only reads the sheet you choose — it never edits it or sees your other files.
- Header row needed. Put column names (Phone, Name…) in a row near the top so the columns can be detected.
- Opt-outs still apply. Anyone who unsubscribed is skipped, even if they're in the sheet.
- One row per person. If the same number appears twice, the last row wins.
- Keep it shared to the connected Google account, or the live re-read can't run.
Frequently asked questions
Can I send a WhatsApp broadcast from a Google Sheet?
Yes. In the audience picker choose the Google Sheet tab, connect your Google account once, pick the spreadsheet, the tab, and the column that holds phone numbers. ConvoFly messages everyone in that column and re-reads the sheet on every send, so new rows are included automatically.
Can I personalize messages with columns from my sheet?
Yes — it's a full mail-merge. Each template placeholder ({{1}}, {{2}}…) can pull from a sheet column (that person's row), a saved contact detail, or fixed custom text, with an 'if blank' fallback.
Does ConvoFly change or see my other Google files?
No. Access is read-only and limited to the single sheet you pick — ConvoFly never edits it and can't see your other files.
